Hiking in Waikiki

The most popular hike in the Waikiki area is one that takes you from the Diamond Head Crater up the caldera.

From the the summit of Diamond Head, visitors can enjoy a spectacular view of Waikiki, Honolulu, the volcanic crater and nearby countryside.

Hike up Diamond Head, Waikiki

Access to the start of Diamond Head Trail is via a tunnel located at the northeast side of the volcano.

One can either walk right from Waikiki along Diamond Head Road to the tunnel entrance or catch a local bus to the tunnel.

It is advisable to begin your hike early in the day in order to avoid the hot afternoon sun.

Toilet facilities are available at the start of the climb.
